ABOUT

Maurice Hicks is multi-hyphenate artist originally born in New York, but now resides in North Carolina.  He obtained his bachelor's from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a focus on Media Studies and Film Production along with a minor in psychology.

His career includes writing and directing feature films, commercial client work and more recently photobooks.

​

Ganbatte, his self-published photobook, earned Kickstarter's 'Projects We Love' badge in addition to being a recipient of the Creative Capital scholarship for excellence in the arts.

​

His second photobook to be captured in Japan, AKIKO: Formless Woman, is currently under consideration for publication.

​

A solo gallery show featuring selections from AKIKO is scheduled for March 2025.
